Hi Chris, thanks for your nice message which made me smile this freezing morning :). Yes I teach at Linton now (1/2 time NQT this year and next), this lets me do the other stuff you mention ;) the other half of the time! Yippee. I'm also (as of yesterday) going to be a tutor at the OU.
BTW I agree with what you say in your too insular? comments, especially as you mention all the other places where I regularly network.

Too insular?
If you want other education professionals try http://elgg.net or even the TES forums - different functionality but a greater range of users.
If you want other professionals from other profesions how about http://linkedin.com
If you want the widest range of friends and widgets how about http://facebook.com
Got music to promote how about http://myspace.com
Want to share music experience how about http://last.fm
