Camtasia 3 & SnagIt 7 (there are newer versions of each available) can be downloaded and keys generated for free from the publisher's website - no strings, just a way for them to encourage you to buy the latest versions.

Both work great if you want a simple, Windows, way to generate demonstration videos or screenshots of on screen action. Fully functional and not time limited.

Also well worth a look, particularly for movie screen capture is Wink (http://www.debugmode.com/wink/). Wink is freeware that can create interactive Flash files from screen capture. Great for "how-to's".
