About Me
I'm an ICT teacher, AST and Lead Practitioner Coordinator for SSAT. I'm interested in bringing the real world more into the curriculum using ICT. This includes learning about global issues and communicating with other students at link schools around the world.
I also help to lead ICT ITT training in Norfolk and Suffolk.
I'm a father of 3 boys, so my spare time is mainly spent watching CBeebies, cycling, canoeing and flying kites!

What is Global ICT

This week I am giving a workshop at the SSAT National ICT Conference. The focus of my presentation is how to combine the need to give the curriculum a global dimension with finding ways to give ICT tasks a real sense of audience and purpose.

What is RSS and how do I use it?

What does it mean?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is a very handy tool that enables you to receive automated updates on your favourite websites, discussions, blogs etc. Basically, it means that the information comes to you rather than the other way round. It is particularly useful when you want find out what is new on a

About Alex Savage

I'm an ICT teacher, AST and SSAT Lead Practitioner. This means that I borrow ideas from anyone I meet and try them out on my long suffering students! If any of them work, I then share them with as many other teachers as I can.

ICT is still only a baby subject, but it is growing rapidly. The majority of ICT teachers still don't have any qualifications in this core subject (me included). Meanwhile, our students are rapidly becoming more advanced in using ICT effectively than we are.…

Alex, please could I have a Flash Meeting account? Am keen to be included in the Flash Meeting "meeting" too!
I really enjoyed your sessions today. Looking forward to more learning at Notre Dame on the 6th December!

Hi Alex, we've never met - although I'm sure I've read posts of yours all over the place. Our closest connection is that I mentor Sue Crawte who has attended some of your GTP training sessions - does that make us firends in a web 2.0 sense? :)

The funding is 'Computers for Pupils'. We're in a quite deprived area and can therefore access this funding which is to put a computer into the home of disadvantaged students. It's dependent on FSM and the Socio-Deprivation index of each students postcode.

Hey Alex,
We're messing around with UMPCS's at the moment for the 'computers for pupils' project. We've had our launch today and I've been training the parents etc to use the tablet functionality.

Makes be a little nervous giving away £100,000 of kit in one morning though!!!

See you soon,
